Reno is trying to build this into more than just a CX race. They have live music ,beer garden, vendors and a bunch of other stuff going on. It’s a cool venue and a great place for a CX race. The CX Nationals will be here in 2018. The course had a little bit of everything. Ryan G., Dan, Erik, Brigitte and I traveled to Reno for the CX race. Ryan, Erik and I all raced at the same time in the masters A’s in our respective age groups.
Ryan was as fast as usual and raced hard against some strong dudes. He had one crash on the day and wound up in 3rd. Erik was strong and steady and found his way to a 4th place podium spot. I was feeling great at the start and battled some dude for a lap then he blew and I was able to build a big lead , which turns out was a good thing because I tore my calf muscle on the big run up half way through the race. I was able to ride OK but getting over the barriers after that was a problem. I managed to hang on for the win. Dan and Brigitte also raced hard and finished strong.
On Sunday Dan was the only one to man up and race in the Sagebrush CX at the Truckee bike park. I was super bummed to not be able to race because the course looked super fun! Part of the course went through the giant pump track they have! There was also some sweet single track plus a big grass field maze. Dan raced hard and was wiped out after two days of racing. He literally slept all afternoon!
That’s it for now!
